Super Smiles
Especially on the changing table. These pictures from last week are my absolute favorite so far. Ada’s just had a blast with my mom on the changing table. She thinks Pita (Grandma’s new name) is so funny, as you can see.
Mom even babysat for us! I left Nibs for the very first time for more than a half hour. It was very nice. We went to a party and when the subject of baby CPR came up, I needed to go home.
Also, I have a picture of our new cool sling. Kristen, my sister-in-law, made us a gorgeous baby sling. I’m excited to covertly nurse Ada in it plus she can be in just about any position in it. She seems to like it just as much as the Bjorn, which also has been a life saver. Kristen and Andre have their slings, pottery and glass jewelery for sale at clearmountaincraft.etsy.com

That’s right we’ve hit the 10 lb. mark plus 21 inches, the wonders of breast milk. Brother Andre, Kristen and the kids came to visit the other day and Ada got to meet her cool cousins, Nora and Pascal. We miss them up there in Minnesota. Mom drove up yesterday for another fun visit. We’re painting the town red for a few days. I might even get to go on a date with my husband while she watches my little Nibs. Ada’s somehow acquired an unfortunate nickname. Nibs might be here to stay, to early to tell.
Ada has a new skill, smiling and laughing! It’s amazing to watch, well as her mother it is. It might bore the pants off anyone else. I managed to get some fleeting smiley moments in these photos.
Much Love, D

Ada and Denise came outside for an hour or so today. It was the first time being outside for a significant time since Ada was born. They both did great. Ada just slept.. and Denise was real happy to get some fresh air.

Hello from babyland. I feel pretty out of touch with the outside world and it’s only been 5 days since Ada was born. I’ll write later about our homebirth, my sweet and loving husband, being a new mommy and my fabulous postpartum doula, Jill.
For now I want to write about my own mom who’s been staying with us since Sunday and generally saving Jason and I from major exhaustion. Although I’m feeling cloudy and tired, I’m also really enjoying these blissful early days with her and Jason. What a trip it must be for my parents to witness their little child whom they nursed and bathed, nurse and bathe the next generation. It’s been quite an incredible experience for me to watch both my parents enjoy our new little girl so much. My Dad’s pretty adorable with Ada as well, he had to go back to work on Tuesday.
Anyway, three cheers for Grandma and all her saintly behavior. She’s really helped Jason and I keep it together. In all of this, I’ve had to learn to accept the help and care that’s offered so that I’m better prepared to take care of Ada. Newborns are quite demanding but I am absolutely LOVING every minute of her. She’s so sweet right now, I secretly don’t want her to change at all.
We have a poo poo diaper, goodnight.
Denise
She lives!
Denise is feeling more chipper this morning so I managed to get some nice pictures. We had a heck of a night last night and are working today on reversing Ada’s schedule a bit. I’m going to go back to pulling on her toes to keep her awake. You’ll find the new pictures on the Photos page.

Here is another set of new photos from tonight. Maybe when she gets more than a few days old I’ll have more to write about other than her being cute… so far that is what she is good at though. We are already learning her patterns in subtle ways.. figuring out how to make her stop crying, how to get her to sleep and generally knowing what she wants when.
Here you are:

Denise is pretty missing from this here blog and a lot of the photos, too. She sends her best to everyone and is doing fine. She’s still recovering from birth but doing so really quickly.
She’s going to put a post together later tonight about her experience with have a natural childbirth at home. It was an amazingly positive experience for her, I, and Ada. Truly great. We’ll also have some pictures of her coming up soon.

Starting to pull the site together now.. i’ll be making lots of cosmetic changes in the next few days. I’ve kind of sort of got the photo gallery working over here. It’ll get better tomorrow.
We had all four grandparents over today for the big unveiling. Denise is doing wonderfully although I’m having a hard time keeping her in bed. Ada is pretty squeaky. We’re going to go take a bath.
Here’s to sappy baby blogging,
Jason
